Stock

The Collection of the Historical Museum of the City of Leipzig’s Photographic Library is an extraordinary source of historical photographs. The stock of more than 100,000 objects includes numerous rarities, such as e.g.:

  • Estate of Berta Wehnert-Beckmann: 83 Daguerreotypes, 3,500 glass negatives, 1843-1885
  • Estate of Hermann Walter: 3,400 negatives, mainly on glass, representing the history of architecture in Leipzig, 1870–1930
  • 20,000 postcards
  • 330 photographs of the ‘Leipziger Herbst’, showing the political events in 1989
